While it may have worked cinematically, the scene in which Saxon and Virgil ride alongside Blood at the head of the bike run seems unlikely. ![]() Saxon would also have had to “patch over” before he was offered a position within the Jackals since he was already a member of another gang (albeit one he made up). This is primarily evident when Blood asks Saxon to join the Jackals. Even though Black’s operation took 18 months, the filmmaker is force to speed up the progression for the audience’s sake. This is especially evident in the scenes depicting Saxon enduring great physical and emotional strife.Īs far as what may have been embellished, it seems that the rapidity of which Saxon rises through the ranks must have been exaggerated. Throughout the entire film it is easy to tell that writer/director Ferguson went to great lengths to ensure that Beyond the Law did Black’s story justice. In fact, an Arizona biker gang known as the Dirty Dozen served as technical advisors on the film.ĭan Black also played an integral roll during the filmmaking process, serving as an on-set advisor. ![]() Accuracyīeyond the Law has earned recognition from bikers and law enforcement officials alike for its realism. While Harley-Davidson is surely the motorcycle star of Beyond the Law, a Honda Gold Wing also finds it way into the mix during a brief scene. An officer we later learn is Saxon’s abusive uncle rides the bike. The film’s opening sequence also shows a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide outfitted in police regalia. There is a red Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, which Blood rides, and Virgil’s Harley-Davidson Softail Springer. In addition to the Softail Custom, Beyond the Law also showcases several other classic Harley-Davidson motorcycles. The frame was made to look like a softail via the addition of some sheet metal. Ironically, the frame used at the beginning of the scene is a vintage Harley-Davidson wishbone hardtail. Although simply seeing the bike is reward enough, viewers are treated with a noteworthy montage of Saxon and Virgil assembling the bike from the ground up. Many motorcycles are featured in Beyond the Law, but the obvious star is the Harley-Davidson Softail Custom, ridden by Saxon (Sheen). To complicate matters, Saxon simultaneously begins a relationship with Renee Johnson (Linda Fiorentino), a photojournalist chronicling the Jackals. As the film progresses, Saxon falls deeper into the seedy biker underworld, becoming increasingly unhinged. At the onset Saxon is understandably weary of his new “friends,” but soon becomes entrenched in the biker lifestyle.

Not keen on stopping his secondary education as part of turning professional, Petrušev began looking for a way to continue his schooling while simultaneously pursuing basketball. Summarizing his two year stay in Spain, Petrušev described it as "essentially becoming a semi-professional at fourteen" while crediting it for "significant personal growth". In accordance with the club's training methods, in addition to team practices, he spent a lot of time on daily individual work-honing footwork in the post and practicing the hook shot-with coach Iñaki Iriarte. While there is no long-term treatment for oligohydramnios, drinking extra fluids, installing a saline solution into the amniotic sac (amniofusion), and other intravenous fluid delivery procedures have been proven to increase amniotic fluid levels. With early diagnosis, most cases of oligohydramnios can be managed or treated with hospital bed rest, fetal monitoring, oral and intravenous hydration, and early delivery when the fetal monitor shows abnormal heart rates. Oligohydramnios affects 4 – 8 % of pregnancies and needs to be diagnosed and managed early to prevent fetal injury. Throughout the pregnancy, doctors should regularly reevaluate a woman’s AFI and measure fetal heart rate, breathing, movements, and muscle tone to assess fetal well being. During oligohydramnios diagnosis, doctors use ultrasound readings to gather amniotic fluid level measurements and calculate a woman’s “AFI” (amniotic fluid index) to determine if her levels are normal.

It meant someone would greet me and attempt to have a full-fledged conversation on the street having just experienced perhaps the best day of their life, even if on the inside I was arriving on that sidewalk from a completely different plane of existence. It’s a pleasant cloud to be in sometimes and should be just as accepted as happiness would be. Noticing how others had this grip on love admittedly made me sad but not in a sense that I was afraid of. The air felt romantic in a soft way: upfront but not obtuse. Pretty soon I associated San Miguel as a place for hedonists. Not many were eating or wandering solo like I was. Most afternoons I would sit near the basketball courts at Parque Benito Juárez and watch those competitively play ball while stray dogs would pass me by. Peppered throughout the town are fountains carved into the sides of homes displaying religious or aquatic figures above a spigot of running water. I would walk through the hills to peer down on Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, watching couples get engaged and mariachi bands serenading tourists while they withdrew cash from the ATM. San Miguel de Allende is a stunning city on foot. When the louvered windows were open the ‘inside’ dissolved away. What I liked about the home was similar in vein to the modernist movement in California: the outside was just as important as the indoors. Up there you felt like your head was in the heavens, especially on days it would storm and the thunder cracked what sounded like inside of you. Above were two bedrooms split down the middle from a spiral staircase leading you upwards to the rooftop where you could see San Miguel in its entirety. The built-in sofa wrapped around a blackened fireplace inset to the wall was where I spent most of my time, especially every morning ritualistically sipping on my coffee until it ran cold while I stretched and meditated. Beyond was my favorite zone in the house: the sunken living room. To the left is the Landin dining table with textured carved legs, seated with the lean but solid Lupita aluminum chair. Symmetrically centered on the right half of the room is a stone island in the kitchen glowing from a hanging aluminum pendant much like an ancient scale set perfectly in balance. The facade is nondescript from the walking street with a seamless portal that opens up to an expansive ground level fortified with OHLA-designed furniture and a full wall of north-facing vertical louver windows. ![]() A concise color palette congruent to the choices in furniture and building materials.
